MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE TABERS!

Over the years Lisa & I have joined forces musically on a Christmas song, combining her musical theatre background with my folk, rock & jazz leanings. The resulting songs are probably something we would never create individually, but are uniquely our own.

This year we've done a new song, and again it's pretty silly. The boys took their biggest parts ever - while we don't have them playing instruments yet, they contributed a lot to the creation of the song, with Jamie working a lot on the lyrics, melody and some arrangement elements, and Nick adding some really cool harmony ideas that were all his own. We put it together so fast and it's kinda rough but I think it still conveys the fun and emotion we all put into it!

Electronic Christmas This year's song! A little bit country....
What We Love About Christmas

This one must have been about 7 years ago, so the kids would be 5 and 7.... this was the first time we forced them to sing on the Xmas Song! :-D They are too cute!!! It's pretty much a 2-beat showtune

Xmas At Top Speed

Lisa certainly didn't envision this one coming out like it did. Usually she gives me the words and then I come up with the music and then we work together making adjustments til we're both happy with it. I wouldn't change much about this..... There exists a version with the boys on it but I need to re-mix it. This one is all me, and all rock and roll baby! Love that blazing solo and growlin' vocals.

Christmas With You Now we're into the pre-digital studio era, so I recently tried my hand at remastering this transfer from cassette. This one came outta the jazz/big band vibe I get to play in sometimes.... unfortunately I had to do it with all synths, but I'm still pretty proud of it. This made full use of all my "moosic skool" skills - arranging both horns and voices, and coming up with all the cool chords on the intro
Christmas Is You To Me This is the very first original song we did together, it must have been Christmas 1990 - I was still living in Brooklyn, and we were obviously not yet married. I'm fond of the guitar solo. A corny ballad but effective.
